The banknote features a distinctive black design set against yellow and green underprinting. The obverse prominently displays Crete's Coat of Arms, flanked by intricate vignettes - on the left, a classical rendering of Poseidon seated in regal pose, and on the right, a detailed portrait of King George I facing forward. The reverse side, executed in green ink, showcases an elaborate guilloche pattern surrounding a central illustration of the legendary Labyrinth of Knossos. This sophisticated security printing was executed by the renowned firm Bradbury, Wilkinson & Company, known for their expertise in banknote production.
